The Poet’s Lament

The Plague Persistent

In the land of blind men
The one-eyed man is king
In the land of famine
Even stale bread is a feast

In the land of hatred
In the land of fear
In the land of ignorance
There is no king nor feast

For no food can satisfy
The empty heart
And no king can lead
The land of blind fools

Only the most vile of the wicked
Steal babies from mothers
To cage them with wolves

Only those twisted
By a leprous soul
Can kill for no reason
Other than melanin

The virus of evil men has become
A global pandemic

As of yet
Science has found no cure
