The Meek Do Not Inherit the Earth
Those with a tender heart
Stumble through life with blurry vision
Clear lines distorted by any semblance of pain
This world is not configured for compassion
As road rage and target practice surely prove
Bodies are scattered
Bones are bleached
On countless beaches and
Across unknown deserts
Jesus, Gandhi and Martin
Are now only fond memories
Their bodies long ago reduced to dust
I resisted my fate for thousands of years
But now, in these end times
Maybe I will enter Valhalla
Exhausted
But alive with joy
