Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio? Our nation turns its longing eyes to you...

Dead zones  are  hypoxic  (low- oxygen ) areas in the world's  oceans  and large lakes, caused by "excessive nutrient pollution from human activities coupled with other factors that deplete the oxygen required to support most marine life in bottom and near-bottom water (NOAA)."  In the 1970s  oceanographers  began noting increased instances of dead zones. These occur near inhabited  coastlines , where  aquatic life  is most concentrated. In March 2004, when the recently established  UN Environment Programme  published its first  Global Environment Outlook Year Book  ( GEO Year Book 2003 ), it reported 146 dead zones in the world's oceans where  marine life  could not be supported due to depleted oxygen levels. Still haven't found what I'm looking for...

There was a woman Today at Starbucks  She was a variety of things (As we all are) And proclaimed many things just By showing up A red Polo shirt told me She proudly sells at Office Depot Her gray hair said She shouldn't have to Support hose Orthotic shoes And a purse that has seen better days I would have been tempted towards pity But then she presented her personal Bible Leather bound and precious  The  Pièce de résistance was yellow And with it she saved the best parts for later Her dutiful highlighting proved There is hope for her  And us As long as we still believe That today's search Will be tomorrow's find dg 7/9/12 Sent from my iPad

Deep rivers we all must cross

Sadness Somedays washes over me And like the tide Leaves only a melancholy sheen Other days A long forgotten sorrow bubbles up Reminding of currents Unseen and seldom understood The flowers of compassion cannot grow Without wetness to soften a sometimes Hardened ground But Without the summer sun The joys that dry most any tear A heart will soon become Dank and frumpy Too moldy To ever laugh Unexpectedly dg 7/8/12 Sent from my iPad

And so it is

My friend Randy Died on Saturday Around 9:15 PM And yet This is incorrect Because he began to die The day he was born We all do It is the mystery of Yin and Yang The paradox of Light and Dark Yes His dying increased  When the cancer was born His dying sped along Even as his Spirit grew And so it is  With we all We live, we die We choose, we grow We laugh, we cry We scream, we smile We love, we hate We are hurt, and we forgive Everyday It continues Until it doesn't  And then We who remain Remember  And we are thankful  Repeat the process Forever...
