Pandemic
The world is dying
What will you do?
Children are starving
Grandfathers wasting away
For want of a touch
For embraces denied
For gazes averted
For simple souls never seen
Never heard
The world rushes on
Albeit more slowly
And for different reasons
Than before
Even now
Mercy waits her turn
As hatred speaks
Unabated
What more could be done
By an angry god or
Even a loving one
To open the eyes of the intentionally blinded
To turn the ear
Of the muffled truths
The poor you will always have with you
Jesus said with broken sobs
The poor you will always have with you
And also the dying
Some alone
Some embittered
But very few
Ready to go
Very few
Ready
