Tao dying

i died a little today
when I saw the young girl
tender
trying too hard for beauty's reward
i died for the young woman
barely pregnant
whose heart has yet to break
for a baby turned teenager
i died for the neglected child
who cannot afford
paid advocacy
and who the Tea Party
cannot see or love
i died for compromises made
seemingly small
but whose end looms large
and unforgiving
i die just a little
everyday
so
momentarily resurrected
i can live
forever
