This isn't George Clooney

Open the door...
We watch the scene unfold and
We feel the tension
Open it...
As the story unfolds
This particular scene seems
Inconsequential
A man before a door
Or
A woman sits by the phone
A number hastily scribbled on torn paper
Will she call?

So many times
The world hangs by the most slender thread
Entire futures depend on
Such small choices
The angels watch with anticipation
They yearn because they see
Their prayer is for every
Hot mess of a man
Every broken hearted girl
Be free

Life and death is often delivered in
Very small packages
And easy to ignore
Faintly as the wind blows
I think I heard their voices
One dark, bitter night

Fear not, my brother
Fear not, my child
Fear not
Fear Not, Live Free
Or
Die Trying
