What I tell myself on Mondays

the lie is that it can be fixed
whatever "it" is
the river, no matter how unwieldy
needs no fix
the inconvenient weather
must be left alone

one who knows the truth that underlies all things
lives in this world without danger
to him, every word reflects the universe
every moment brings enlightenment
rivers and streams are born of the ocean
all creation is born of Tao
Tao 32

there is no wrong
all is as it must be
the falling leaf has no cares
it settles to the ground
contented by the blowing wind

the raindrop falls joyfully
it knows the ocean awaits
brothers and sisters, too

no matter the length of days
no mountain can stop that family reunion
no matter the nautical miles
we must return to the sea
to that lovely home
from which we were born
