Even though

Even though Japan is burning
Even though rebels are dying in Africa
Even though robber barons steal and scheme
And injustice flows like waters through a broken levy

Even though it all is true
It has always been so
As those we love are dying
Others we cannot see are born to take their place
Others we do not yet know are bringing gifts
But as they have yet to arrive
We do not believe

Blood flows, but so does water
Angry words are screamed
But tender words are whispered
So even though one is heard before the other
Even though I may never hear the soft words of angels
That urge me onward
The gods
They know
They will not forget
That I am made of flesh
And my days are built of dust and wind

Now that I remember
I will not relent
Until I arrive on that distant shore
That honored place
My soul calls
Home
